Who we are?

Rules of Law on Earth

The "Rules of Law on Earth" (RoLE) initiative aims to establish a local-global enterprise dedicated to promoting the rule of law as a fundamental pillar of world peace.

The project is based within Conflict and Resilience Research Institute Canada (CRRIC, www.crric.org) and serves as a central hub for coordination and liaison with various stakeholders, such as non-governmental organizations (NGOs), academic institutions, and policy circles. Based in Winnipeg, MB, Canada, and spearheaded by CRRIC, RoLE will work globally to foster a culture of justice, pursue nuclear disarmament, and resilience through the principles of the rule of law.
The initiators believe global conflicts including nuclear threat cannot be resolved through the existing state-centric conflict resolution approach thus needs a collaborative approach.

We uphold the fundamental tenets of justice as enshrined in constitutions worldwide, including free speech, a free press, separation of powers, and limited government. We invite individuals and other organizations including Rotarians to join us in standing up for these ideals to promote a just and peaceful world.
The initiators picture a circle of diverse people holding hands around a scale of justice and a circle within the circle. The circle represents the mediation/restorative justice alternative to the adversarial process that is the ever-present way for a solution by agreement. The threat of a third- party determination that may be adverse to a party provides a creative tension to seek to agree by a mediative process. We aim to gain the support of grassroots diverse peoples and cultures and faiths around the world and feel not only part of a global justice system, but feel they own it and are responsible for it.

Mission

We are a diverse coalition of legal professionals, scholars, retired civil servants, Rotarians, and public-spirited global citizens who advocate for the universal application of the rule of law.

We uphold the importance of truth, the integrity of the justice system, the essential nature of individual rights, and the necessity of civil discourse. These principles apply universally, regardless of the party or persons in power in a state or organization through active ‘global citizenship’.

Vision

Our vision is a world where the rule of law is universally upheld, ensuring justice, equality under the rule and sustainable peace for all people.

We envision a global community that collaborates effectively to address legal and social challenges, fostering environments where human rights are protected, and resilience is built.
